I live in Albany, NY and have recently decided to pursue a career in health care. I have an Associate Degree in Human Services and a BA in Special Education. My work experience is limited to low-level Human Services positions. I recently started a Master's program in Health Services Administration but am having a lot of trouble getting an entry level position in the field. I've been applying for secretarial type jobs and have been surprised that landing this type of job is such a frustrating and difficult process! I only want to work part-time, and it seems like employers are not giving me a chance because I don't have prior secretarial experience... I need to get started somewhere- any advice?

My comment after reading this page is: It seems like Americans have been given the short end of the stick. My experience has been that the majority of American jobs are offered up to the foreign population lets been real . No one wants to admit to the true, I have seen hospital staff that can not speak good english. Foreigners say that Americans are spoiled and lazy, while we cannot speak or understand their language they laugh at us behind our backs. While sending US made dollars back to their home states to build it up and live like Kings and Queens. I fault the United States government for this. While we go to school to better our lifes when we are done they get the jobs, in the nursing homes it is bad they half take care of the patients, laugh about it and cover up for any mistakes. America, WE NEED TO WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already hold a license in medical billing and coding , and I can't get a job because I don;t have enough experience. I have been on a job, but it transferred its billing so we all were laid off.

Hi, i graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with a BS in Biology and Chemistry and is hoping to further my education to become a PA so i'm looking for jobs in the medical field or in the lab but the job market is hard, what can i do cause i really do need a job in my field especially the medical field, also i currently work with as a residential counselor.

Most coding positions these days are requiring 3 years experience. I have been out of work for 1 year on 11.05.08. I have 2.5 years experience. As for the pay rates, $22 is not an entry level pay rate unless you are a nurse or a brand new Dr. just starting out. I made 16.00 per hour with my experience. Don't mislead someone with figures life that. That person will find out soon enough that all is not what is seems.
