At Children’s almost half of the new hires come from employee referrals to replace the 9% of employees who voluntarily leave each year as well as the 115 new jobs (3% growth rate) added last year. About a fifth of the employees have been at Children’s for more than a decade. Children’s is ranked a Best Hospital. Job applicants last year numbered 47,000.
Established in 1998, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta quickly rose to the top ranks of the nation’s hospitals. It is one of the largest pediatric systems in the US. Children’s has 15 neighborhood locations, including 5 immediate care center and one primary care center. There are more than 6700 employees, 1400 of which are pediatric physicians. In 2007, Children’s had over half a million patients visits and spent more than $98 million in un-reimbursed costs of care.
