Posted 3 months ago For all of you who are hoping to become Medical Assistants...how are you doing it? What education programs are you going through? Do you have any jobs, internships or volunteer work that is helping you out? |

| Posted 2 months ago I just finished w/my extern yesterday! It was a fantastic place to work. I got front and back desk experience. Now, I am completely done w/college. However., I am finding it hard to change careers as I don't have the experience most companies are looking for and I did not take limited x-ray. I spent almost a year and half., studying hard, working fulltime and raising kids. I so much am ready to move on. Current company that I am employed at., have been there for over 9 years. Just want a change. Love the medical field. But how am I going to get my foot in the door? |

| Posted 2 months ago First off....congratulations! You obviously worked very hard and you deserve more than just a pat on the back! As for getting your foot in the door...a great way to start is to network with those around you. Along with doing your own job search, like here on AllHealthcare, you can ask AllHealthcare members if they know of any places that are hiring. You have a ton of work experience, and that will help you out a ton! Good luck! |

| Posted 2 months ago My advice to all would be to make sure the educational program is accredited. In fact, not just accredited, but accredited by CAAHEP (see www.caahep.org for a list of medical assistant and other programs). These, and other educational programs, are also published in the annual Health Care Careers Directory, from the AMA. |

Thats what scares me the most. I am deciding whether to go to school...and I don't have experience. Anyone else have encouraging words? Can your school do more to help place you at a job? |

| Posted 2 months ago Well i just started taking the medical assistant cours at Sanford Brown, and im now in my 2nd module and i would definately love to get my foot in the door now, even if tis doing volunteer work or getting paid i just want to get the experience so that when its my time to get in the field i have no problems at least i would have something under my belt to help me out. So if any one know of any place thats hiring or wiling to take on volunteers i would greatly much appreciate it thanks and good luck to you all. |
