On a good day...all of us have our best days and worst days on the job. Got any of those days to share with us?

I asked to stay at my extern site to work in a walk in clinic. I loved it! I mostly was interested in phlebotomy  and that's why I chose MA. BUT ...  As I got better .. and better at drawing blood the girl who helped train me felt very threatened. Long story short I ended up getting let go after my 90 day eval was up.  I took the time to study hard and I passed my RMA exam. 1 week after that my mom passed away. It has been about 2 months now with every effort on my part and I can't find a job anywhere. I live in a very small town in TN 2 hrs away from Nashville. Everyone is telling me I can't work in home health or nursing homes (places that are always hiring ) becouse I'm not licensed! So I busted my butt in school graduated with honors , did such a good job that I lost it, and I can't find work any where. Does anyone have advice ? I have been in health care for 10 yrs, as a RDA and yrs ago a CNT. I thougt I was moving up but i'm really scared now. I have resumes on all the known job boards and no bites. My resume is golden , the Dr. I worked for helped me , so what gives? Where can an MA work ?  Thanks for any reply .

Keep your chin up; better things will come your way. You could always check with the home health jobs in the local paper or some of the Urgent care facilities in your area they are always looking for Med Assistants. I have learned one thing in my life and that is you can't always listen to what other people say. You will be surprised of the acceptance you will get out in the job force. You know you have worked hard to get where you are going and you are qualified for your position and more. I know you are in a small town but  just put yourself out there with a smile and I am sure you will get a bite. Good luck!

marcella76- granted i am "new" to the health field, but, in your post you said that your resume "was golden". I got a question. Do you use the same resume for every job that you are trying to get? I was doing that for a while and wasn't getting very far. A co-student told me that what he would do was to "tailer" his reume to the job he wanted. In other word he would research that particular compny and even go so far as to find out names and numbers if he could. But the biggest impact tht he found was if he just "adjusted" his resume for "that" job. hope that helps spark some thought if you haven't had any luck yet..CB
