I was just wondering where everyone worked whether it be a family practice or a specialist office.  I am currently working for a pulmonary specialist and I’m thinking about moving on to something else.

Also I was wondering what else can you do with a medical assisting certificate besides working at a doctor’s office, more on the administrative side like working for a health insurance company.

Hello! I have a medical assisting certificate as well. But I recently become Certified through the California Medical Board, during my job search with a certificate, as I  came across available positions some titles were connected to medical assistant administrative duties, such as a lab assistant or medical receptionist , medical records clerk  in clinic or hospitals and even in private and government sectors. With your experience it should not be a problem compare to recent graduates. Please let me know how you were able to obtain your first job as MA.

I interned at a family practice but they didn't hire me so through my school's job placement program I managed to get a job at a specialist office.  Right now it's really over whelming!

HI  I work in a ENT office ans she are always busy. I worked in a Pediatric office for 14 yrs and we have a slow moments but they always went in waves. May - Sept would be checkups and injures Mid Sept- Feb would be flu and cough RSV stuff and March - beginning of may WOuld be general slow whatever is going on. I kinda miss knowing what to expect but I guess maybe I was just used to the norm and now I just don't know what is coming next.  I am learning alot of allergy stuff though.
