It's great to see her on the ticket.  She's got a lot of spunk, feisty, and a lot of fresh ideas.  I feel ashamed, however, how people have treated her since she became a part of the McCain ticket.  Family should never be in the campaign.  She's gone a long way from being a head of the PTA to Governer of Alaska in such a short time!  God bless her!  Can't wait to hear her speak in the Convention!  Heard her acceptance speech -- she kicked it out of the park!

Of the two major party candidates we have to choose from, McCain has to have the most time in a hospital to date. For my money, that means he's more likely to appreciate the need for more healthcare professionals.

With respect, he's also spent the most time being tortured, and he supports waterboarding.  I don't think that being in a hospital makes you more appreciative, being an appreciative person does.

McCain's healthcare plan makes sense if you are talking about refridgerators and not the health of the nation. I am all for a free market when it comes to my refridgerator - not when it comes to my health. I want my doctors deciding whether or not I need medication - not my insurance company. Under McCain's plan, insurance companies won't be forced to cover pre-existing conditions like breast cancer or melanoma (does this mean McCain will be turned down for coverage?) McCain's plan also includes taxing employer-provided health benefits which would use up most of the $5000 tax credit he proposes to give each family to purchase coverage. Public policy experts say that once companies don't have a tax incentive, they won't offer insurance coverage for their employees anymore.

Finally, McCain's plan barely makes a dent when it comes to covering the uninsured - over 10 years, the McCain plan will cover less than 5% of those with no insurace (Obama's plan would cover 47%).

I can't say that I was totaly aware of his back-door attempt to strike down coverage for prior conditions.  Something that has profound consequences for most if not all of us especially as we get older and for those of us who may have to switch insurance companies as we switch employers, or for any other reason.  . . .  It is a terrifying prospect to think that once again we might be subject to the type of deregulation that lead to the current economic crisis, except that instead of the economy getting sicker, flesh and blood people will get much sicker, and many of them will probably die.  It may be fine for those who are healthy now to simply dismiss the sick as unnecessary burdens on their insurance policies, but what will those same people think when they have a child with a coronary septal defect that prevents their child from recieving the coverage needed to obtain the surgery to correct it.  Isn't McCain's party the same one that screams for "life," at every chance it gets from abortion rights to right to die cases?  Why then are the lives of so many Americans so trivial to them?
